Life was much simpler back in the days.
Don’t get me wrong. I don’t wish to go back to how it used to be. Back then you had to wash your clothes (and the dishes) by hand. Yikes! I for one love my washing machine! But you can’t help but think that life back then had natural obstacles in place to hold you in check.
If you had to wash all your clothes by hand, you’d think twice before you bought yourself your third or fourth pair of jeans, right?
With no natural check-points, we’re always on the look out for something new, something better. No matter how much we have, we want more. The world revolves around stuff and consumerism is a way of life.
Ever since I was a teen, my dream has been to travel the world. Over the last year, I’ve come to realize that this dream can be my reality. Best of all, I get to share this reality with my husband and four kids (I just have to work a little at getting them on board with this whole simplicity thing)!
I’m not about stripping down to the bare necessities (even if I were, I suspect my husband and kids would fight me tooth and nail)!
A Breath of Simplicity is about living for the moment and learning to let go. It’s about re-focusing on what truly matters. It’s about realizing that the less you spend the more you have, and not the other way around.
Simplify, Simplify, Simplify. De-clutter your mind and your home.
Breathe. Exhale. Now do it again.
Slow down and STOP to smell the roses.
This is what I try to do more of every day.
