Welcome to My Simplicity Journal

My journey in simple living began in the Summer of 2011. That was the Summer I walked into my local book store and picked up a copy of Simplicity Parenting by Kim John Payne.

A couple of chapters into the book I experienced what I refer to as my personal “ah-ha! moment.”

Books often motivate me to change. They make me feel like I want to do things different. Unfortunately, these feelings usually pass before I have time to act on them!

Simplicity Parenting was different. It kicked my butt into motion!

There’s a chapter in the book that discusses the importance of why and how to simplify toys. This was one of the first things I changed in our lives and you can read about how purging our toy collection changed how my kids play here.

After witnessing the incredible results, I couldn’t wait to implement changes to “live more with less” in other areas of our lives.

I started this blog because I thought sharing my experience might help someone else to slow down and smell the roses.

Would you like to join me in my journey?

What You Can Expect to Find on this Blog

1. Simple Parenting

Simplicity Parenting is what introduced me to simple living and well, I do have four kids, so it’s safe to presume that simple parenting tips and inspiration will be a recurring theme :)

2. Decluttering

Ridding yourself of physical and mental clutter comes part and parcel with simple living. Besides, I do love to organize. I’m actually a bit of a stickler for order so you can expect to find some neat Organizational Tips (pardon the pun)! In fact, check out these super cute Peek-a-boo Toy Bags and my Pretty, Organized Spices.

3. Simple Foods

(you can read more about my journey on simple foods here).

I’ve developed a bit of an obsession with natural, whole foods. An obsession that inevitably resulted in a fifth baby – my DSLR camera! So you can expect to see lots and lots of tried and tested, kid-approved recipes.

Meals and snacks that are Wholesome and Yummy.
